Altium pannel question

Sniper2 , 03-22-2024, 03:53 PM
So i have a PCB that is 50x60mm and i want to panelize at 2x3 , is there a way to include the PCB size ans a parameter since atm i need to manually type some offset values. i think i can shink my PCB a bit and i was wandering if there is something like .PCB_lenght that can auto update my panel. like kikit for kicad that knows PCB edge dimensions

Have you tried to use the "embedded board array" feature in Altium?

yes

The embedded board array has 4 parameters for size/offset. 2 horizontal (column) and 2 vertical (row). Each has start-to-start (width/height --> spacing) and gap (margin).
The spacing takes the size from the board+margin. When you enter a margin, it automatically calculates the spacing.

So where do you "i need to manually type some offset values"?
Sniper2 , 03-24-2024, 04:33 PM
as in 2 of those parameters

i was wandering if they can be automated
Sniper2 , 03-24-2024, 04:34 PM
start-to-start (width/height --> spacing)
Sniper2 , 03-24-2024, 04:34 PM
this
Sniper2 , 03-24-2024, 04:34 PM
atm i have to type it

Can you explain why this "*When you enter a margin, it automatically calculates the spacing.*" does not work for you?
Sniper2 , 03-24-2024, 07:27 PM
lets say my PCB is now 75mm wide so in the pannel i need to type 75mm wide*
Sniper2 , 03-24-2024, 07:27 PM
but after a bit more work i go to 70mm
Sniper2 , 03-24-2024, 07:27 PM
i would like to not retype 70mm wide*
Sniper2 , 03-24-2024, 07:28 PM
aka for altium to auto update those numbers for me
Sniper2 , 03-24-2024, 07:28 PM
maybe with some fancy .stuff line thing
Sniper2 , 03-24-2024, 07:28 PM
is there somethin g like thsi?

1) I do not know if Altium can automatically update the PCB inside the board array. It has been many years. At the time, the size of my board did not change.
2) How often do you change the size of your (base) PCB?
3) Again, you do not need to type 70, but for instance 2mm for the margin.
