Designing my Own LED bulb

Calex , 08-20-2023, 02:47 AM
Hello Sir,

I am one of your student who once enrolled in your course on how to design your own board using Arduino circuit as reference design.

But now I want to use my skill to design my own LED BULB product I don’t know where to start! What can you advise me on steps to take?

define what you want first!

e27 / e14 / or what ever socket you want to design for.

start with a block schematic of what you want to make? define the different items that need sorting out.
setup blocks like, ac/dc converter / control? / Led matrix dont know if you want to make a smart bulb.
find what leds are in the market and design a universal footprint of multiple different so you can test various leds.

if you want to take it a step further:

think mass prodcution from the start, use cheapest components you can find, go for simple materials. and design for fast production (meaning based on PCBmanufacturing panel sizes)
build you business case with all the production steps

take some of the shelve light bulbs and thake them apart to see what is smart to do..

good luck, hope this helps.

Do note that mains power is many times more deadly (try infinite) than the voltages on an Arduino.
If you do not know where to start, then this may not be the best (safest) one.
