Routing Issue on connecting Microcontroller pads in KiCAD
Techcurious , 08-07-2025, 06:06 PM
Hi @Robert Feranec / @Phil ,I am currently taking Mixed signal hardware desing course. During the layout, I can't able to connect the track from capacitor pads to microntroller pads, there is no connection (see gnd track) or misalignment (see +3V3 track). Also, I can't able to route the tracks starting from microcontroller first, see the violation in green color. Please let me know how I can resolve this issue?

Can someone who has experience with Kicad provide response please for the above question?

is this not something with minimum clearance?
Techcurious , 08-08-2025, 01:04 PM
@Robert Feranec It seems like not, I reduced the minimum clearance to even 0.15mm, still showing the issue.

@Phil, can you please provide response to this question, I am stuck at this point, still didn't know why this issue is happening.

Please see the below image, I have 0.2mm pitch between the pads, just want to make sure if I am using correct symbol.

@Techcurious How are your design rules set-up (i.e. pad-to-pad clearance, trace-to-pad clearance, etc.)? You may have to reduce these rules to route in/out of the pads. Alternatively (or in addition), you can start routing with narrow traces in/out of the pads, and then widen as the design rules allow.

After reducing the trace width to 0.2 mm, it resolved the issue. Seems like our footprint models might be different.
