how do I identify or decide

Bitu , 07-23-2025, 01:56 PM
I want to know if there are any guidelines or someone who can help me understand track width and track clearance.
I am facing a lot of difficulty in understanding how much track width I should keep in a PCB, and what should be the track clearance.
Also, how do I identify or decide what track width and clearance to use for a specific signal or net?

There are various reasons for each.
Bare board fabrication has a minimum track width and track spacing that depends on the copper thickness.
The applied voltage, usage conditions, environmental situation, etc. drive an additional minimum 'clearance'. IPC, IEC60664, UL60950, etc.
The current trough it will heat up the trace. The width of the trace is depends on the current and the temperature rise you allow.
For voltage and current you could use the PCB toolkit https://saturnpcb.com/saturn-pcb-toolkit/, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJCRrEf_IH8
