It's My First Time Using USBLC6-2. Is This Design Good?
Shiro , 11-11-2025, 07:29 AM
Hello!I am trying to add a protection circuit for my STM32F411. I've never used the USBLC6-2 before. Is this design OK, or is it overkill? I am new to PCB design and looking forward to learning more.

Overkill - No.So add some 22 Ω or 27 Ω resistors in series with the USB to the MCU.Be careful with the ferrite bead (inductance) and ceramic capacitor. Chances are great that it will cause anto-resonances that are more problematic than the problem it may solve.

Should i also define USB_DIN_P and USB_DIN_N as differential pairs?

in some recommended schematics I saw a capacitor close to the power pin of the protection

Close to the connector is best in my opinion.

It depends on the length of the traces. If they are short, it does not help.

Alright, thank you so much 🙏 I have one more question. I really want to improve my PCB design skills, but I’m not sure where to start. I’d like to learn more about high-speed design and signal integrity. Could you please recommend some courses I should take?

I am planing to get Advanced PCB Layout CourseAdvanced Hardware DesignAdvanced Digital Hardware DesignMixed-Signal Hardware Design with KiCadbut i don't know which order should i go with

If I can recommend my course, then Advanced PCB Layout
