Renesas is buying Altium - Good or bad?

I am curious what you think about this https://www.renesas.com/us/en/about/press-room/renesas-acquire-pcb-design-software-leader-altium-make-electronics-design-accessible-broader-market

I hope Altium will get closer to their customers

That is very interesting, even more if you take into account they were using Altium in Renesas Europe and while the rest of the company was using Cadence tools... I guess they will have to use the same umbrella now

Altium will focus itself on big tech companies and hence it will stop promoting their business on youtube and other social channels.
Unfortunately for us, it will not continue to sponsor big pcb design youtube channels.
End of an era😩

I am a big fan of Renesas MCUs. Starting with the H8 in 1999 up to the latest RA family.
They provide the IDE free of charge and also support GCC.
I never had much issues with getting support, but then I have a good relationship with a FAE of a distributor.
However, I do not know how to put it with Altium. Their Synergy portfolio flopped (as I expected from the start).
